Stop Wishing & Start Ticking Off Your Goals

How often do you hear yourself say 'I wish I had a flatter tummy', 'I wish I had more money', 'I wish I had a nicer car', 'I wish.....' and the list could truly go on.

What if you were to say this instead 'I set my goal to achieve a flatter tummy in 4 weeks then I left it to the universe to get it done. Wow the results I got were shocking!' Yes of course they would be shocking, why? Because there were none!

I know this might sound a little silly or bizarre but it's ringing the truth now, right?

If you want to start a business, you wouldn't say 'ok I am setting a goal to start my own florist shop' then sit on the couch watching tv while eating Tim Tam biscuits and expect the shop or customers to magically appear out of nowhere.

This is the same with your Health & Fitness - would you set a goal for a flatter tummy, tight butt & sexy legs and expect to achieve these while sitting on the couch watching Shortland Street? Ha yes I know, how ridiculous!

Smarties is a great way to set goals with deadlines & plans that will get you achieving those results you want.

Here is the breakdown of what SMARTIES means:

S - SPECIFIC: Decide exactly what is it you want to accomplish and express it in specific terms.

M - MEASURABLE: How will you know when you have accomplished this goal? Find a way to measure your results.

A - ATTAINABLE: Set yourself up for success. Reach high, but not impossibly high.

R - RELEVANT: Is this goal in line with your values, priorities, and other goals? Does it contribute to your overall mission?

T - TIMED: Set a target completion date, as well as milestones along the way to track your progress.

I - INSPIRATIONAL: If your goal does not inspire you then it is unrealistic to expect that you're going to be driven to achieve it.

E - EMOTIONAL: How will you feel when you have achieve your goal? For most of us the 'feeling' is the real goal. A great way to write a goal is to begin with the end in mind. by doing so, you're able to move toward experiencing that feeling by achieving the goal. Write the goal as if it's already been achieved, that is, in the present tense. For example, 'I am feeling confident to wear strapless dresses now that I have lost 5kgs and got my new toned strong arms!'

S - SUCCESS: All success requires rewards! Decide on your goal then pick your reward. Is it a new outfit? A new wardrobe? A bikini for your island holiday? It's your goal, it's your reward so pick something that personally feels like a added bonus to keep you on track to your goal.
